Partial Collar Strike Public Deposited

Definition
  • Partial Collar Strike.  A striking error where a planchet does not enter completely into coining position and is struck partially within the collar and partially outside; what collectors call a railroad rim. The edge may be evenly divided, half with reeding (or the smooth surface of the collar aperture) and half without. That portion that did

not enter the collar will have the wider diameter.
