Pierced Inlay Público Deposited
- Pierced Inlay. Adding a second metal to a base metal for a contrasting color; the second metal is soldered to a cavity cut into the base metal. Pierced inlay is always applied to metal, where pique, pique work can inlay other than metal (as ivory, shell, mother of pearl and such). Pierced inlay also differs from an impressed design (in which the second medal is laid on the blank and impressed by the dies in striking). See bimetal.
