Pinhole Publique Deposited

Définition
  • Pinhole.  Minute pit in the surface of a struck piece, caused by dirt on the die or planchet, impurities in the alloy, improper flow of metal, or other causes. Pinholes in coins are usually not reason for rejection during inspection: but medals with pinholes would be rejected and restruck or chased (depending upon the number of holes, location and their severity) prior to their being refinished and inspected again.
