Definition

• Price Study.  A listing of data from past sales records, auction prices and fixed price offerings compiled by a collector of a series or particular item. Price studies aid potential buyers and are often useful for beginning collectors until they feel confident to trust their own judgment in purchasing decisions. This is often done by those specializing in a topic to gain insight into the subject and is always done in compiling a provenance. Also called price history.
