Progressive Dies Public Deposited
- Progressive Dies. A compound tool which performs several operations with one cycle of the press (as stamping, perforating and blanking in one press cycle); useful only for very long press runs because of its high cost and involved setup. Some unusual shaped coins that are also pierced are created with progressive dies. Clifford F. Stegman Sr., an officer of the Osborne Coinage Company, Cincinnati, holds a patent for such a progressive die to strike transportation tokens. Compare compound die.
