Ring Blank Öffentlichkeit Deposited

Definition
  • Ring Blank.  A blank with a center aperture where a companion blank of a different and contrasting composition will be inserted and coined to form a bimetallic piece. Ring blanks can be manufactured in two ways: blanking the outer dimension first, then the hole, or piercing the aperture first in the strip stock them blanking the outer circle. The later method is used for large quantity blanking. When coined the ring blank and the contrasting plug blank slightly smaller than the aperture are fed simultaneously to be struck to freeze the two blanks as one solid piece to form the bimetallic coin, medal or token. For trimetallic pieces, two ring blanks are used with one plug blank.
