Ring Medal Öffentlichkeit Deposited

- Ring Medal. A medallic item with a separate and surrounding ring enclosing a medal in its center; it is mounted on a base with pins at top and bottom to hold both pieces in place. Developed for the 2000 year mililleum the medal swivels inside the ring where the ring can swivel separately (even in the opposite direction). The first of these were struck by Medallic Art Company in 1999 in two sizes. While the mounting of a medal on a pin set in a base had been in existence for decades, the addition of the ring where both were supported and could swivel was an innovation and a medallic first. It is a multipart medal.
