Roundel Öffentlichkeit Deposited
- Roundel. (1) A bullion medal obviously in round shape. Such die-struck items are issued by private mints to fulfill the craze of acquiring small amounts of bullion in coined form, irrespective of the design on the piece. As the demand for bullion INGOTS fell, private minters replaced these for the most part with round struck pieces, somewhat easier for them to manufacture. Despite the lack of a more creative name for this class of bullion items the name “roundels” caught on. See BULLION MEDAL.
