  • Scratch Brush.  A medallic finish in which a stiff wire brush of very fine bristles is applied to a surface giving an irregular scratched pattern of extremely fine lines, often performed with other patina procedures. It was also the method of applying a mercury-gold amalgam during firegilding. See brush finish, patina, finish and finishing.
