- Serrated, Serrations. Notched or saw teeth-like projections. The term is incorrectly used for reeding or knurling on the edge of a coin – unless the knurls are pointed and actually shaped like saw teeth. There are some dentiles which have pointed ends, these would be correctly termed serrations. See dentiles, reeded edge.
