Shaded Publique Deposited
- Shaded. Lines or crosshatching on a coin or medal to indicate texture in design or lettering. Shading can be added to lettering (superimposed on the letters) for special emphasis; when added to the tops of rims this is known as reeded rims. Shaded area in detail or relief signifies texture, often used in clothing. For background textue particularly, when crosshatching is done at oblique angles this is florentine.
