Shear Marks Pubblico Deposited
- Shear Marks. Striations on the edge where metal has been cut off, particularly on blanks. The slightest irregularity on the edge of the blanking die – as a tiny nick or scratch – will cause such striations or streaks in the metal cut off. Shear marks on the edge are not to be confused with burrs, which are a trail of metal debris on the exit side after blanking. Both shear marks and burrs remain on the blank until it is upset, ground off or polished. See blanking.
