Definition

• Star.  (2) A sub component of a decoration in the shape of a star usually bestowed in place of the decoration for a second, third, or later time. The star is employed in the United States, but in other countries and instances the second award is noted by a bar, clasp, oak leaf, maple leaf or other component.
