Sticker Spot Pubblico Deposited

Definizione
  • Sticker Spot.  A discoloration on a medallic or numismatic item. With the advent of the adhesive sticker available as a stationery item, vendors found these useful for placing directly on such items for price, date or other data. If left in place for any length of time they leave a spot when removed, either of uneven toning, residue adhesive, or both. It is best to remove the sticker as soon as possible, dried adhesive is more difficult to remove than when it is fresh and pliable. However, the residue adhesive can be removed at any stage of its dryness (but not the sticker spot) with toulene or other petroleum products. If it is a medallic item and the sticker spot is too unsightly, the piece would have to be refinished.
