Definition

• Striated Field.  A pattern of multiple lines in somewhat parallel design as a background texture for a coin or medal. A Lincoln Plaque of 1909 cast by Jno Williams, a New York City foundry, had such a field. It is a non artistic type of background texture.  See texture.
