Template Público Deposited
- Template. A pattern of thin metal or wood used as a guide to uniformly prepare various work. In the medallic field templates are used to prepare molded borders, background plates or basins. In the preparation of certain cutting or trimming tools metal templates are used to make unusual shaped cutters (see trimming). In patina work a template can be placed over a certain portion of a medal while some patina function is applied to another portion (see mask). In flat engraving templates are the patterns for guiding the tracing stylus to perform various engraving actions (see flat engraving). Because they are used over and over again templates are made permanent in substantial material.
