  • Tressure.  A secondary border or frame enclosing the device. Of any shape, such as a quarterfoil, it is sometimes ornamented. The term comes from heraldry where it describes

    a frame within a shield that is often ornamented with fleur-de-lis.  A recent American medallic example: Mony 125th Anniversary Medal.
