• Unknown Portrait.  Unidentified person appearing on a numismatic or medallic item. Often the identity of a portrait on a coin or medal is lost and no amount of art or historical research is able to revel this. The portrait must not be a generic design, but obviously a portrait of a once living person whose identity is lost.  See art history.
