Untoned Publique Deposited

Définition
  • Untoned.  Before any toning or tarnish has occurred to the surface of a coin or medal. A specimen is said to be untoned when it is in fresh condition, as a copper coin with mint luster – what collectors call red – before it turns brown by exposure to the atmosphere or contaminates. After the surface has toned it is said to be aged.
