Disk Pubblico Deposited

Definizione
  • Disk.  (1) A thin circular metal nameplate applied to the back of a decoration (or sculpture); it contains the maker's name, imprint or maker's mark. The disk is usually diestruck (even if the object is cast) and covers only a small central portion of the reverse of the object and differs from a backplate which covers the entire reverse. Its purpose is to identify the maker and help guarantee authenticity (counterfeit disks are usually cast).
