  • Proof-like. (2) A numismatic item struck from dies that have been inadvertently polished dies during repair or routine maintenance. These are made on normal planchets and give no special care since they are part of standard manufacturing for circulation. See proof finish. Morgan silver dollars are known for having a large proportion of proof-like circulation coins. :
