Aluminio Public Deposited

Definition
  • Spanish: Aluminum. A popular metal in the 1900s for light weight, low value coins. Like zinc, aluminum does not exist in nature as a metal, but it is common in the earth. The first metallic aluminum was produced in the early 1800s. By 1850 there was less than a kilo of the metal on earth. Fake ancient coins have been found with about 2% aluminum so they cannot be genuine. You cant spot aluminum by appearance when in such small amounts but fake patinas abound.
