Definition

• Spanish: Strongbox or chest. Governments or large merchants in Spanish colonial America would simply pour silver coins into previously weighed chests until the bullion weight was reached, lock and seal the box and ship it. This could be done in a time when the metal value of coins was always close to denominations.
