Confederate banknotes destroyed Público Deposited

Definición
  • In the late 1800s many collectors had some Confederate notes, if only as a passing interest. But scammers passed hundreds of Confederate bills to shopkeepers in the West who didn't know they were worthless. Government seizures in 1919 stopped collectors of those bills for decades. Coin dealers were wrongly targeted as middlemen. Some $60 million in Confederate banknotes were destroyed. The swindling then moved overseas.
