- A name used for many coins under many rulers named Carlos in Italy, the oldest being in the 1200s in Naples - the entire foot of the �boot� of Italy. 2. A 1700s copper coin of any of the Spanish kings named Carlos. There were 2, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 carlino coins.
