Military medals Public Deposited

Definition
  • Military medals with their ribbons are a popular numismatic type world wide, but many collectors are unaware of how they are used in recipients promotions. A ranking of U.S. decorations gives enlisted military members points for promotion. This helps commanders determine how one military person rates against his or her peers. A soldier is sometimes noted as the most highly decorated of some conflict without the ranking of awards being clearly explained. Usually, the media simply counts the number of decorations. Some military members object to lessor awards that have nothing to do with combat, valor, or leadership being included in the promotion point count.
