Cuño Público Deposited

Definición
  • Spanish: A coin die. Also: Troquel. There were upper and lower dies when coins were hammered, one mounted in an anvil or stump and the other, called a pile, in a coiners hand. In the 1500s innovative coiners created roller dies and rocker dies before screw presses came along. Dies created in the 1930s could produce about 25,000 coins per day. Today a die can strike more than 300 coins per minute in electric presses.
