Definition

• The principal silver coin of the Islamic world including Al Andalus, 1/10 of a gold dinar, made from the start of the Muslim faith. Copies were minted by the Christians in Arab-controlled Spain from the 700s CE to the 1400s. The name is from the Greek dracma.
