Definition

• Spanish: A religious offering in metal and other materials contributed to a church by being pinned to the skirt of the altar with a prayer. The most spectacular numismatic example: the rare heart-shaped cobs of Potos�. The sagrada corazones pieces were an odd mix of this religious tradition and sideline income by the mint workers at Potos�. Some cultures called small exvotos milagros (miracles).
