Ejection doubling, or strike doubling Pubblico Deposited
- A mint error coin damaged in the striking process. This mimics die double strikes. It happens when a die shifts slightly as the dies separate just before the newly struck coin is ejected. In that moment, parts of the struck coin that have not cleared the die are shifted out of registry causing the coins relief to appear doubled. This is mechanical and not a result of a defective die.
