Definición
  • The study and collection of orders, decorations and medals which are worn with formal clothing or a uniform. There are orders of chivalry that date back to medieval knights. An order is both the name of the group as well as the item worn - often an elaborate pendant medal. These orders had as many as 12 classes from a knight up to the king, each medal of a greater size, and more elaborate style. Included are military decorations awarded for gallantry or meritorious service. Campaign medals, a class below decorations, were hung from a ribbon and awarded to those in a military or naval campaign. These medals are worn on uniforms and civilian attire. Phalerists call medals and medallions that are not worn on clothing table medals.
