  • A small billon or copper coin issued by Aragon�s Alfonso V (1442-1458) for Naples and Sicily. A silver grano of this period was called an obolo. 2. A copper coin struck under the rule of Felipe V (1700-1746) for Sicily, equal to 4 maraved�s. 3. Slang for the 1/4 real in M�xico until 1861. 4. A 1/4 fraction of a karat in the outdated gold fineness system in which 24 karats equaled 96 granos. Silver was based on 12 dineros or 288 granos.
