  • A series of gold and silver coins of Mexico, all with the bust of Miguel Hidalgo, a hero of the 1810 revolution. In gold, there were 10, 5, 2 and 2½ peso coins. The silver 5 pesos were minted 1951-1957. The larger coins, 1951-1954 are called Hidalgo grandes. The smaller coins, struck 1955-1957 are called Hidalgo chicos.
