  • A rare 1817-1818 1/2 real coin struck in San Antonio in the Mexico province of Texas. These crude copper coins were the only Spanish coins ever minted in what now is the USA. Texas became independent of Mexico in 1836 and existed independently until 1846. 2. Slang for the 1/16 real coin of Mexico, also called a pil�n, raci�n, tablilla and se�al.
