Marca chinica Öffentlichkeit Deposited

Definition
  • Spanish: A Chinese chop. More commonly, contramarca china. Chopped coins values are based upon how unusual the coin marked is. Trade dollars of Japan, Great Britain and the U.S. are commonly found with chops. Coins such as a Russian rouble, Netherlands guilder, Philipines peso, Mexico Iturbide 8 reales and Mexico Maximillano peso are extremely rare with chopmarks as are gold coins and many minor coins. These may also be called resellos chinos. The word 'chopmark' and phrase 'chop mark' are incorrect. A chop is a mark so 'chop mark' is redundant.
