Medalla damasquinada Público Deposited
- Spanish: Damascened medal, a misnamed process. It is gold plating over a darkened bronze medal and not a damascene jewelry method or gold leaf work. Such pieces were made by gold plating or fire-gilding of relief elements. Damascene artists make sharp-edged scratches on steel sheets. Thin pieces and wires of silver and gold, cut out into their final shape of flowers, leaves, ribbons, etc. are tapped into the steel, bonding to the scratched surface. The steel is then given a dark background. Damascene steel work is also unrelated.
