  • A large silver coin minted for the Netherlands and the Spanish Low Countries in the 1600s during the reigns of Felipe II through Felipe V. See: Alberto. Fractional coins of 1/2 and 1/4 patagones were also produced. The Spanish equivalent of a patacoon, more commonly, corona. This name applied to other coins in Europe of the time. 2. An Argentina pattern silver crown that was struck in 1879.
