Patina Público Deposited
- Tarnish created by exposure to sulfur, erroneously called oxidation on coins. If the result is attractive, it is patina. If not, you can call it tarnish. There are some 1100 patina types and dozens of formulas. Today less than 50 patinas are in regular use. Creating patinas calls for a knowledge of base metals, temperature and pH factor of any acids used and methods of application. These use a variety of sulfides, chlorides, nitrates and other chemicals.
