Prensa de rodillos Public Deposited

Definition
  • Spanish: The roller press, perfected in Austria and first used in Spain at the Segovia mint in 1586. It used two parallel water powered roller dies with obverse and reverse coin images, which had metal strips fed between them. The coins were then cut out of the strips with coin-size punches. This process is known by the Germanic term walzenwerke.
