Real Pubblico Deposited
- A silver coin first minted by Pedro I of Castilla (1350-1369), and continuing on for centuries in different weights, metal fineness and sizes well into the 1800s. The first reales to circulate in Spanish America were struck in Sevilla and sent to the island of Espa�ola (now Santo Domingo) in 1505. 2. In a broad sense, real, meaning royal, all coins belonged to the kings during the middle ages. This may only apply to gold coins. An old spelling of real is rreal. Also see nummus realis. 3. A coin of Brazil since 1994.
