  • A 3 real coin. One was struck at Mexico City shortly after it was settled by the Spanish. The coin was abandoned in 1537 because it was confused with the 2 reales coin of the same basic design. 2. A 3 reales coin called a carilla, was circulated in Spain�s Ceuta outpost on the North Africa coast in 1726.
