Definition

• A U.S. supplier of planchets to the U.S. Mint, 1829-1889 until 1903 when the U.S. Mint installed a department for its own blanking. A major manufacturer of Civil War tokens. It also stuck coins for foreign governments in the 1800s. In the 1900s it made American sales tax and transportation tokens at it's plant in Waterbury, Conn.
