• Spanish: Dies sold by mints. The U.S. mints in recent years have sold some of their defaced used dies - usually with a large X across the face for about $50 each. Prices in the secondary market for dies immediately increased. Some dies were used to make coin-like items illegally and court action was taken to stop that.
