  • A cardboard fractional currency used in the Mexican revolution of 1910-1917 and in Uruguay 1867-1871. Literally: �value� or �good for.� Also called: cart�n. 2. Revenue bonds circulated in small numbers by Mexico�s colonial government in the 1700s. 3. Puerto Rico paper tokens or scrip issued in the last quarter of the 1800s.
