Robinson, Jack "Jackie" Roosevelt Público Deposited
Born in Cairo, Georgia. He attended Pasadena Junior College and U.C.L.A. He served as a second lieutenant during WWII.
Robinson began to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, becoming the first black player in the major leagues. In his last game in 1956, he struck out to end Game 7 of the World Series.
He died of a heart attack at home in North Stanford, Connecticut at age 53.
The Jackie Robinson silver medal was released on January 6, 2022. The obverse was designed and engraved by Donna Weaver. The reverse was designed by John Mercanti and engraved by Don Everhart.
