• Born in Charleston, South Carolina. Graduated from Presbyreian Collge in 1948. Served in the U. S. Army. Married to Blanche Sawyer in 1975 with two sons. . Employed as a State Farm agent. He was named a Numismatic News Numismatic Ambassador in 1990.
