Television newsman in Lansing, Fort Wayne, West Palm Beach, Miami and Grand Rapids. Television anchorman in Green Bay, Wisconsin, 1964 to 1996. Congressman from Green Bay serving January 3, 1997 to January 3, 1998. Director of the Mint 1999 to 2001.
In 2003 he was Director of Business Development for Collectors Universe. With Jay Johnson Coins & Consulting. He was a commercial spokesperson for Goldline International Inc., Morgan Mint and the Franklin Mint. In 2007 he was awarded the ANA Outstanding Government Service Award.
Appears on a Mint Medal (USM 325) with obverse design by T. James Ferrell; reverse by Thomas D. Rogers and sculpted by Donna Weaver.
He died at home in Northern Virginia.
