• Born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Attended Wake Forest University. Served in U. S. Coast Guard. Married to Winifred Walzer until her death in 1999. He remarried Kathleen Gawthorp in 2005. 
  

  Professional golfer with many honors including 92 gold championships.

  Honored with a Congressional Gold Medal in 2009. The obverse was designed and sculpted by Donald Everhart II. The reverse was designed by Phebe Hemphill and sculpted by Joseph F. Men.

  He died at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
