Biografia
  • Born in Flushing, New York. Received LL.D. from Norwich University. Married Sarah Gibbs Thompson April 17, 1901. They had two sons. Pell served in the U.S. Navy during the Spanish American War. He served in the French Army 1916 to 1917. He was wounded, was cited for bravery and was awarded the Croix de Guerre. He was a member of the Masons.

    Employed as director of the Fort Ticonderoga Museum. In 1913 he donated a collection of Indian Peace Medals to the ANS. He served as 13th President of the ANS from February 18, 1941, to January 10, 1942, and then as First Vice President until January 11, 1947. He was appointed Honorary President for life January 15, 1949, a position he held until June 22, 1950.
