Ruby, Charles (Leroy) Público Deposited
Born in Carthage, Indiana. Received A.B. from Central Normal College in 1924; LL.B. in 1926; B.S. in 1931; M.A. from Stanford in 1929; J.D. from Pacific College of Law in 1931; and Ph.D. from Olympic University in 1933. He was admitted to the Indiana bar in 1926 and practiced law in Indiana. Married Rachael Elizabeth Martindale August 30, 1925. They had a daughter and a son.
Employed as principal of Pine Village (IN) High School 1923 to 1925; Glenwood (IN) Public Schools 1925 to 1926; teacher at El Centro (CA) Public Schools 1926 to 1927; Central Union College 1927 to 1929; professor of law at Fullerton College 1929 to 1966. In 1962 he was elected president of the California Teachers Association.
Served on ANA board of Governors 1951 to 1953. Received ANA Medal of Merit in 1954. Served as president of the Numismatic Association of Southern California in 1961. He served on the Assay Commission in 1968.
Ruby collected stamps, Indian artifacts, glassware and art. His coin collection was sold at auction by Superior in three parts 1974 to 1975. The U.S. large cents were strong in varieties and deep with many duplicates. It was said that he "collected the Red Book in depth."
